Bourg St Pierre
Bourg-St-Pierre, the last village before Italy, watched thousands of pilgrims and various armies pass through - among them those of Julius Caesar and Napoleon Bonaparte. Here you too will discover a few remnants of times long gone, including one of the oldest church towers in Switzerland (1000 years old). Bourg-St-Pierre lies in the mountains at 1632 metres above sea level, amid wild, snow-covered landscapes far from the hustle and bustle of the cities. One of the variants of the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt passes through Bourg-St-Pierre and continues on from here towards the Matterhorn. Here we’ll be learning French or English!
